Don't buy it. It's crap.

You sound bent. Whyfor you no like?

Succinct. I had the gut feeling that it was a mile wide and an inch deep, but don’t know enough to be confident in that. Can you give a breakdown?

It’s a proof of concept, not a game. No Man’s Sky 3 will be great.

I’ve been seeing the talk about it on the interwebs. Cliff’s Notes on what exactly it is?

It isn't a game, it's a proof of concept for the procedural generation of planets. It's completely empty.

Dangit.

From what I’ve read, it’s basically a massive walk around that they’re trying to make into a game and hence why it falls down. I think if they were to shrink the universe so that players can actually interact it probably would be better.

At least Dwarf Fortress has enough layers of procedural generation that fucked up randomly generated things are funny.

So the rumors were true... I hate it when the internet is right.

Yeah. The game would be better if there were maybe 20 unique locations and a plot to actually play through, and then the procedurally generated planets to back them up and give you places to look for resources and such. As it is, the “game” is just an empty shell.

Do you have any experience with Elite Dangerous, to give a small comparison?

I’m so confused about what this game is and what the point of it is and what could possibly be enjoyable about it.

I'll keep playing but that's how I feel. Basically the same thing over and over.

I have to fully agree with you, on the surface it seems cool and interesting, but seeing a few let’s plays i quickly saw that it was just an interactive procedurally generated proof of concept aswell. Like spore but with barely any things to do....

From the descriptions of the game and reviews thus far, perhaps it’s just not a game for you.

Maybe that’s the whole point???

After the unmitigated disappointment that Star Citizen has been since it hasn’t even fucking launched yet, when I saw the first trailer for No Many’s Sky I was just like; “Nope, not falling for this shit again.”

If you enjoy Dwarf Fortress (I don’t, but if you do ) and you haven’t checked it out already, take a look at RimWorld.

I might grab it at $20 later. It looks great, I think a few updates might help it out, and it looks like a relaxing mystery novel, rather than an action flick, but I’m thankful for your post.

Is it really? I had a friend who was going to play for a little and let me know

Eeenteresting. As long as it has things happening on par with the fortress I had that died off down to one angry vermin-eating misanthrope, or the decorative engraver who filled the expedition head’s living quarters with pictures of things she was deadly afraid of, or the idiot who struck through a barrier and caused water to fall seven stories - where another dwarf mused what a nice waterfall he’d just seen as he was slammed against a wall by the torrent. Dwarf Fortress is stupid in amazing ways.

It's been years but I remember spore as being more fun

Can’t buy it anyway since all I have is Xbox. At least I don’t feel so bummed about it now.

Number of people surprised by this: too many

“You’re just not the kind of person that would enjoy this game”
![]() 08/11/2016 at 17:59 |

So just wait for Star Citizen.
![]() 08/11/2016 at 17:59 |

Yeah.... I mean I am enjoying it right now, but I feel like that will go away fairly quickly

Seemed like a cool idea. But not for $60
Again though, the internet is making all these games way too hyped so they just disappoint when they launch.
